“Happy Father’s Day to all of the dad’s out there that are no longer here with us.”
Father’s Day can be an especially difficult time for those who have lost their dad. Whether he just has passed or it has been several years, it is still not an easy day without him. There are several things that you can do to honor your Dad on this special day.
- Celebrate in honor of him. Maybe your dad was an avid runner. Get a group of close family and friends together and run/walk a 5K together. Take the time to share memories and photos that each of you have of your father.
- Make a scrapbook. Find photos of him that bring back good memories and ask others to do the same. Get together all your photos and put together a scrapbook so you can share all of the memories of your father with his loved one’s.
- Plant a tree. Plant a tree in memory of your father. Invite family and close friends over to share a few memories before placing the tree in the ground. Each person can help by placing a shovel of dirt into the hole. You can even have a nice plaque made in honor of your dad to put in front of the tree.
- Visit him. Visit where he was laid to rest, whether this be at his gravesite or where his ashes were thrown. If it is at his gravesite, bring some flowers and place them in a vase for him, cleaning the surrounding area. Bring a picnic lunch and spend some time with him. Let him know how much he meant to you.
These are things that you can do to honor your dad if he is in heaven not only on Father’s Day, but any day of the year. It is a great way to help keep the memory of your Dad alive! Happy Father’s Day to all of the dad’s out there that are no longer here with us.
